Overload

We are so.... overloaded.
	Our poor insula,
		Constantly pushed to on,
	Wishing it could flip back,
To wander.

Our brain is a muscle, and yet, in the structure of our society as it is, we get no off days, no rest days, not even regularly scheduled easy days.

Why?

When you train for a sport, you alternate high and low intensity days. Cross-country, lacrosse, soccer, basketball, swimming, etc., no matter which sport, your schedule would probably look something like this:

Monday - Hard Day

Tuesday - Light Day

Wednesday - Game Day

Tuesday - Light Day

Friday - Hard Day

Saturday - Do an easy run on your own (which you may or may not do depending on your commitment level)

Sunday - Rest

Now, there's a number of different ways you can make this schedule, but the premise is the same. You do this to build muscle and endurance without hurting yourself.

So, how come every work day in this system is scheduled to be a hard day?

That's not fair, and honestly, in this situation, everyone loses. You are not functioning at your full capacity as a human, so your work is actually at detriment because you are.

I think the truth is, they want to keep us busy, so we're too tired to do anything else. That way, we don't have the time and energy to create a new system because we're so stuck in this one. That way, we don't have time to protest injustices or fight back during power abuse. That way, we are wearily complacent.

I'm not a fan. Let's break that cycle.

I believe if we did have this time, caring, and accountability ingrained in our system, we would be a kinder, more fruitful society. I bet even little glimmers from this year make you able to imagine it too.
