Dissipation (n): The process of gradually disappearing — a loss of energy, for example when something cools down.
The other day, I experienced relationship magic. My partner and I had been out, and something was said that upset me intensely. When I brought it up in the car, visibly shaken, my partner looked at me so genuinely surprised and said, “….I’m sorry, I didn’t realize that was a trigger for you. I won’t say that again.”
“Thank you,” I said.
And that was it.
All my anger, frustration, and tears… stopped before they could spiral farther.
I was elated by how seen and heard I felt.
I didn’t have to explain.
The overwhelming love and lightness that followed spread a smile and joy that carried through the rest of the day.
Wow, I thought, it can really be that simple.
